2016 really was the year of the flood in America. In total, 19 separate floods swamped the nation, the most in one single year since records began in 1980. So why do only 13% of U.S. homeowners have flood insurance? Are the rest simply hoping that a flood won’t impact their home? Hope is not a good plan. In the past five years, all 50 States have experienced a flood. Regardless of the flood zone you live in, or the distance to water, everyone has some risk.
